Mayor Tornek Honors PCGC

The Conservancy received a Certificate of Recognition from Mayor Terry Tornek at Donor Recognition Day at the Villa-Parke Community Garden, on November 21, 2015. The Conservancy’s Nutrition Education is Popular at Villa-Parke Community Garden

Dietitian/Nutritionist Liza Owen's weekly Nutrition Education classes, funded by PCGC, have become one of the most popular attractions at the Villa-Parke Community Center in a very short time. Ms. Owen - who holds a Masters Degree in Nutrition, is a trained chef, and simultaneously translates her lectures into Spanish - is a highly dynamic and energetic teacher who makes her classes engaging and fun for all ages.

Chef and Dietitian Joins Villa-Parke Team

PCGC is delighted that Elizabeth Owen, R.D., a Registered Dietitian and Chef fluent in Spanish, has joined the Villa-Parke Community Garden team part-time to teach nutrition classes each week. The classes, underwritten by a grant from PCGC, will focus on preparing, eating, buying, and cooking with vegetables and fruits as part of a healthy lifestyle. Ms. Owen is formerly the Assistant Director of Nutrition Services at the Covina Valley Unified School District, has taught "cultural cuisine" at Cal State L.A., and has

VILLA-PARKE COMMUNITY GARDENERS MARCH IN PARADE

Some of the gardeners from the Villa-Parke Community Garden, which PCGC is supporting, marched proudly in the City of Pasadena's Latino Heritage Day Parade, on Saturday, Oct. 25, along with members of the Villa-Parke Community Center's Aztec dance troupe and soccer players.
